Best Months to Hunt Red Stag, Lodge by Lodge
Each The season runs March 1 through August 31 across all our ranches but the terrain changes where each month shines. Here's how to pick your window by destination.
Poitahue Ranch — La Pampa
Prime window: mid-March to mid-April, strong all season. The roar turns the Caldén woodland into an amphitheater, with mature stags answering at dawn and dusk these are the weeks that book out first. The gentle terrain keeps hunting comfortable and productive right through August: May and June bring mild post-rut stalking, and the crisp winter days of July and August offer superb visibility through the open woods..

Pampas Ranch — La Pampa
Prime window: the roar (mid-March to mid-April), excellent through winter. Same La Pampa climate as Poitahue, with one difference that matters late in the season: with only a couple of groups hunting per year, stags here see almost no pressure — so even in June, July or August you're stalking animals that behave naturally, not educated survivors.
Andes Ranch — Los Andes
Prime window: March through April. The roar in the mountains is the signature experience stags bellowing across valleys dressed in autumn reds and golds, and mild fall weather for hunting on foot and horseback. May still hunts well as the shoulder season.

FAQS
Q: When is the best time for red stag hunting in Argentina? A: The red stag rut — “the roar” — runs from mid-March through April, when mature stags bugle at dawn and dusk. It’s the most productive and exciting window for spot & stalk, though we also hunt red stag throughout the season.
Q: Are your red stag hunts truly free-range? A: Yes. All of our stags are free-range and fair-chase across private ranches in La Pampa and the Andes — no high fences and low hunting pressure.
Q: How big are the red stag trophies? A: We manage our herds for long-term quality over quantity, so trophy quality stays high year after year
Q: Do I need a license, and can I bring my own rifle? A: We handle hunting licenses and permits, and assist with temporary firearm import — or you can use our rifles
Q: Can I export my trophy to the United States? A: Yes. We coordinate trophy field prep, dip & pack and shipping so your red stag can be exported to the US or Canada.
Q: What does a red stag hunt include? A: Owner-hosted service, expert bilingual guides, full-service lodging, gourmet meals and Malbec, in-country transfers and trophy handling. Water buffalo, blackbuck or wingshooting can be added.
“Absolutely the best bow hunt I have ever been on. The roaring stags and the six to eight stalks daily were well beyond what I imagined.
I have re-booked for next year with my son.”
